The breath of color
ARemy was born in January 1972 and is a painter whose works are known for their colour, movement, light, and above all, the poetry they exude. She grew up in Europe, France, Africa, South America, and then the United States, and her paintings are influenced by her travels and the landscapes she has discovered.
She started out as a lawyer but turned to painting in 2001, which was a revelation. The intense feeling she experienced when applying paint with a knife and her desire to create abstract landscapes inspired her to devote herself to her passion.
She is self-taught and follows her instincts, painting freely without regard for academic rules. In her view, a canvas is a receptacle for emotions inspired by nature, the play of light, and the shapes and colours that surround her. She aims to capture fleeting emotions that give depth and strength to her works.
When she starts a painting, she doesn't know what it will look like in the end. On large canvases, she layers colours and textures with a knife, trying to create contrasts and shapes until harmony and balance emerge.
“Each painting starts with a desire for colour linked to a moment in time, a mood, an encounter... I look for spaces filled with emotion, lightness and light.”
